How can I reach a fulfilling life?
The last few years have been difficult for so many people.
Maybe you’ve only recently contemplated finding a therapist to get through these difficult times. Maybe you’ve been trying to find a way to improve your life—to be in less emotional pain—for a long time.
It may take some searching to find a therapist who is a good fit, who provides the right balance of compassion, deep listening, guidance, and expertise.
It’s a process well worth the effort.
Psychotherapy creates an opportunity to sort through one’s life in ways that can result in greater understanding, improved relationships, heightened ability for self-compassion, increased resilience, and progress towards life goals.
I am a licensed psychologist whose training and expertise are in the area of Clinical Psychology.
My work with individuals grows out of the perspective that people have innate abilities and unique experiences that combine to shape the ways in which they view themselves and others.
I seek to help individuals understand the issues that prevent them from reaching their life goals. Utilizing a blend of several different therapeutic orientations, I help clients develop more successful ways of coping with problematic issues, and help them create and maintain an understanding of themselves and the world around them. This increased understanding coupled with greater emotional awareness can result in a reduction of distress and an increase in positive interactions with others.
I completed undergraduate studies in psychology at NYU, Columbia University, and UC Berkeley, where I received a BA in psychology. I obtained an MA in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. I trained in outpatient, inpatient, university, and community mental health settings. My graduate research involved examining and analyzing the dimentional aspects of personality disorders and applying this knowledge to diagnostic procedures.
Treatment focuses on the individual history and the particular life events and dynamics of each client. The pace of therapy is geared towards alleviating symptoms and emotional distress, while maintaining a sense of safety and security. A melding of different therapeutic approaches (such as psychodynamic, attatchment based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy) is utilized to create an individualized plan for each client.
My primary focus has been helping individuals gain relief from symptoms associated with conditions such as:
